[For the first time since the lockdown, Reiner almost smiles.]

Bet she was spitting mad. Probably wasn't even grateful that he saved her.

[ She ducks her head for a moment, eyes bright. Amusement didn't show easily on her features, but it was lurking. ]

Still, maybe that's true.

[Choked her...? His jaw sets firmly at that, but he stays silent. He's not about to question Annie, especially when she already has reason to thoroughly kick his ass.]

[ Any obscure sense of humor evaporates, her eyes falling half-shut as she looks to a point on the ground by her feet. ]

I'm not someone to trust.

I wasn't telling you so that you could argue. I just want you to know. [His mind is made up.]

Stupid...

[ It makes her distinctly uncomfortable to have him say something like that to her. They were comrades that had to count on each other, but trust... trust was a very big leap. Could they really have trust between them? ]

[Maybe he is stupid. Reiner doesn't answer that comment though. Reiner trusted her. She had never wavered in her duty, never sold them out when she easily could have done so to lessen her on punishment.]

I'm tired.

I've been... tired for a long time, too.

[ He couldn't possibly know how it all went down. He didn't know she's wavered, broke and ran when it all seemed to come together against her. She'd wanted to live. ]

Go rest. We can't afford to wear ourselves out here.

[He nods silently at that. He can rest. He'd like to insist that she rest too, but... well, after the slip-up by inadvertently questioning her ability, Reiner thinks he's made enough mistakes for one day.]
